AI-suggested

Upgrade the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin to version 8.9.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Versions 8.7.4 through 8.9.0 remain vulnerable due to bypassable origin and path restrictions. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

The EWWW Image Optimizer WordPress plugin versions 8.7.4 through 8.9.0 contain a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that allows authenticated users with author-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into post content. These scripts execute in the context of any user viewing the affected page, including administrators. The issue is due to improper sanitization and restriction of dynamic script loading. Version 8.9.1 fixes this vulnerability.
