A fix is available that properly terminates all descriptors without scheduling callbacks and ensures synchronization before releasing resources. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, updating to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dmaengine dw-edma driver was resolved that involved improper handling of termination of DMA descriptors without callbacks. The issue caused late callbacks after termination that could dereference freed client state and allowed leftover descriptors to restart or leak. The fix ensures all issued and submitted descriptors are moved to a terminated list and completed without scheduling callbacks, preventing use-after-free and resource leaks.
