AI-suggested
A fix is available that changes the allocation order in the amdgpu_dm_crtc_reset_state() function to prevent dangling pointers. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, updating to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU display driver (drm/amd/display) was fixed. The flaw involved a dangling pointer in the CRTC reset function amdgpu_dm_crtc_reset_state(), where failure to allocate new state memory could leave a pointer referencing freed memory. This could lead to memory corruption. The issue has been resolved by changing the allocation order to ensure the old state is only freed after successfully allocating the new state.
