AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented that rejects out-of-range profile indices in the affected driver functions. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions containing this patch to remediate the vulnerability. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating the kernel to a fixed version is the recommended mitigation. No additional vendor advisory or patch links were provided; check the Linux kernel changelogs or distribution security advisories for the fixed versions.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HID driver for Roccat Kone devices allows a malicious USB device to cause an out-of-bounds read by supplying an invalid profile index. This occurs because the driver uses an 8-bit device-supplied profile value as an index into a 5-element array without proper range checking. The flaw was identified through static analysis and confirmed with a KUnit test. The issue has been resolved by rejecting out-of-range indices in the affected code paths.
