AI-suggested
A fix is available that zeroes the rpc_gss_wire_cred structure at the start of svcauth_gss_decode_credbody(), preventing stale data reuse. Users should apply the official patches or updates for the affected Linux kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SUNRPC subsystem was resolved that involved improper zeroing of the rpc_gss_wire_cred structure at the entry of svcauth_gss_decode_credbody(). This flaw caused partially decoded credential data to persist across requests, potentially leading to use of stale or dangling pointers. The fix ensures the credential structure is zeroed on function entry, preventing residual data from previous requests from being reused.
