AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this vulnerability by modifying the fallback logic in vdec_try_fmt_common(). Users should apply the updated kernel versions containing this fix. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's media meson vdec component caused a NULL pointer dereference when VIDIOC_TRY_FMT was called with an unsupported pixel format on the OUTPUT queue. This occurred because the fallback to V4L2_PIX_FMT_MPEG2 failed if MPEG2 support was locally patched out, leading to a NULL pointer dereference. The issue was fixed by changing the fallback to use the first format in the platform's format array, which is always valid.
