A fix is available that properly defines DIRECT_MAP_PHYSMEM_END to restrict memory region searches within the vmemmap-covered physical range. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's LoongArch architecture was resolved by properly defining DIRECT_MAP_PHYSMEM_END to limit memory region searches to the vmemmap-covered physical range. Previously, the fallback definition did not adapt to the CPU's physical address space bits, causing get_free_mem_region() to return memory regions outside the vmemmap window. This led to silent corruption of page tables and crashes on certain Loongson CPUs. The fix aligns the definition with the CPU's physical address bits, preventing out-of-bounds memory mapping.
