An official fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue. Users should apply the updated kernel versions containing this fix. Patch status is confirmed by the resolved vulnerability report. No additional mitigation actions are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel arm64 memory management subsystem was fixed involving the lockless page-table walk in the show_pte() function. The issue arises because show_pte() walks page tables without locks and with interrupts enabled, allowing a concurrent teardown to free a table page during the walk. This can cause dereferencing of freed memory or use of invalid pointers derived from cleared parent entries. The fix involves disabling local interrupts around the walk to prevent RCU-deferred table frees and blocking certain inter-processor interrupts until the walk completes, preventing invalid memory access during page-table walks.
