CVE-2026-94613: CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling in goauthentik authentik
authentik is an open-source identity provider. Prior to 2026.2.7, 2026.5.7, and 2026.8.2, an unauthenticated attacker can submit a malformed SAML message to an authentik deployment using SAML in either the identity-provider or SAML source role. The message can stop the worker handling /application/saml/* or /source/saml/*, causing the requests assigned to that worker to fail. Worker process termination and automatic restart do not destroy database-backed sessions, but continued malicious messages can cause a sustained share of legitimate traffic to fail. Other protocol implementations are not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.2.7, 2026.5.7, and 2026.8.2.

Technical Summary
CVE-2026-94613 is a resource allocation vulnerability (CWE-770) in the open-source identity provider goauthentik authentik. An unauthenticated attacker can send malformed SAML messages to an authentik deployment configured as either identity-provider or SAML source. These malformed messages cause the worker process handling /application/saml/* or /source/saml/* endpoints to stop processing requests. Although the worker process restarts automatically and database-backed sessions persist, continuous malicious messages can cause a sustained denial of service by making a share of legitimate requests fail. Other protocol implementations are unaffected. The vulnerability is resolved in versions 2026.2.7, 2026.5.7, and 2026.8.2.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability results in a denial of service condition affecting the availability of SAML-related endpoints in authentik. Legitimate users may experience failed requests due to worker process stoppage caused by malformed SAML messages. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity. The denial of service can be sustained if the attacker continues sending malicious messages.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade authentik to version 2026.2.7, 2026.5.7, or 2026.8.2 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
