Description
CVE-2026-97584 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AFS implementation. It involves an incorrect free operation in the afs_lookup_server() function during candidate server cleanup. The flaw occurs because the candidate record does not yet have an endpoint state, but the code attempts to free it, leading to memory corruption risks. This issue has been fixed in Linux kernel version 6.12.111 and in version 6.15.
