AI-suggested
A fix is available that changes the code to avoid passing invalid node indices to cpumask_of_node() by falling back to cpu_online_mask when no NUMA node is available. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include this fix. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the input data; check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's scsi mpt3sas driver allowed an out-of-bounds array read due to improper handling of NUMA node information. The function dev_to_node() could return -1 (NUMA_NO_NODE) on systems without NUMA topology, leading to an invalid index passed to cpumask_of_node(). This issue has been resolved by falling back to cpu_online_mask when no NUMA node is available.
