A fix is available and has been applied in Linux kernel commits ccd32fa3489cbe86a0b281da4447b4c7eadb3518, aee774588abd78f75952fd34c3fa461bc46b62c2, a6d97d10e49ae49026ae13af6c41634fce470a37, 8805840aad73df7146778be243a196d48b4f6430, and 879c911f77b8a7862aa16079b04efc3fdc5d32ec. Users should update to a Linux kernel version including these fixes to prevent the NULL pointer dereference and early boot hang. No additional mitigations are required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel PCI subsystem could cause a NULL pointer dereference and early boot hang when dynamic device tree helpers access bus properties without verifying the existence of a subordinate bus. This occurs if a PCI bridge device lacks a secondary bus allocation and the kernel configuration enables dynamic PCI device tree nodes. The issue was introduced in Linux kernel version 6.15 and fixed in subsequent commits.
