AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by moving the recycle stats update back under the producer lock in page_pool_recycle_ring_bulk(). Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. No additional mitigation is indicated beyond applying the patch.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's page_pool subsystem in the function page_pool_recycle_ring_bulk() when CONFIG_PAGE_POOL_STATS=y. The issue arises because recycle stats are updated after releasing the producer lock, allowing a race condition where the pool may be freed before the stats update occurs. This flaw has been fixed by moving the stats update back under the lock.
