A fix is available in the Linux kernel commits identified by the fixedVersions hashes. Systems running the affected version (=5.19) should apply these patches to prevent the kernel NULL pointer dereference during boot. No additional mitigation is indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel tracing subsystem can cause a kernel NULL pointer dereference during early boot if tracing is disabled and trace buffer allocation fails. This occurs because the tracing initialization work is queued without checking if tracing was disabled, leading to a crash. The issue is fixed by adding a check to avoid initializing tracefs work when tracing is disabled.
