A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the affected Linux kernel versions. Users should apply the updated kernel versions listed to resolve the infinite retry loop issue. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2026-99251 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's hypervisor driver (hv) where an infinite retry loop can occur in the init_vp_index() function. This happens when the housekeeping CPU mask for a NUMA node contains no CPUs, causing the retry logic to loop indefinitely. The issue has been fixed by skipping NUMA nodes without housekeeping CPUs and improving the early abort check.
