Upgrade dnspython to version 2.9.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated.
Description
dnspython versions prior to 2.9.0 contain a vulnerability in the dns.name.from_wire_parser function, which follows attacker-controlled DNS compression pointer chains without a hop limit. This can allow a malicious DNS message to cause excessive pointer traversal during name decompression, resulting in high CPU usage, application degradation, or denial of service. The issue is fixed in version 2.9.0.
