Technical Analysis

Craft CMS versions up to 4.18.0.1 contain an authorization bypass vulnerability in the actionReorderSets function of src/controllers/GlobalsController.php. This flaw allows non-admin users with control panel access to reorder Global Sets, which should normally require higher privileges. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable and was fixed in version 4.18.1 with patch commit 9bd05c91e6a7e6da5e949ec41a31c220c059aa04.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker with limited privileges (non-admin control panel user) to reorder Global Sets without proper authorization. This could lead to unauthorized modification of global configuration data, impacting the integrity of the CMS setup. There is no indication of confidentiality or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Craft CMS to version 4.18.1 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigations are specified.
