AI-suggested

A patch is available in Esphome versions 2023.10.0 and 2026.7.0 that resolves this issue. Users should upgrade to these versions or later. As a workaround, closing sys.stderr in the target function can prevent the deadlock until the patch is applied.

Description

Esphome versions from 2022.1.2 up to but not including 2023.10.0 and from 2024.2.1 up to but not including 2026.7.0 contain a vulnerability in AnyIO process-pool workers where stderr is not drained. This can cause the worker to block indefinitely if too much data is written to stderr, potentially causing a deadlock. The issue is patched in versions 2023.10.0 and 2026.7.0. A workaround is to close sys.stderr in the target function to prevent deadlock.
