Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-200) in Apache Answer versions before 2.0.2 allows unauthorized actors to retrieve deleted or pending answers via the single-answer read path when the parent question is still visible. This results in exposure of sensitive information that should not be accessible to unauthorized users. The flaw is fixed in Apache Answer version 2.0.2.

Potential Impact

Unauthorized users can access sensitive content from deleted or pending answers that should have been restricted, potentially leading to information disclosure. There is no indication of impact on integrity or availability. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.5, reflecting a high severity due to network attack vector, no privileges required, and high confidentiality impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade Apache Answer to version 2.0.2 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated.
