AI-suggested

A fixed version of GitPython is available: 1.2.0.post0_15. Users should upgrade to this version or later to resolve the vulnerability. The fix addresses the unsafe re-serialization of multi-line config values to prevent injection of new directives.

Description

GitPython versions prior to 1.2.0.post0_15 contain a critical vulnerability in the git config parsing and serialization logic. Multi-line git config values that are read from disk can be corrupted upon rewriting, causing dormant config entries to be interpreted as active injected directives. This can lead to arbitrary code execution via the core.hooksPath configuration, which is honored by git hook operations.
