AI-suggested
No mitigation is currently available that meets Red Hat Product Security's standards for usability, deployment, applicability, or stability. Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates. RTSP servers without authentication configured are not affected by the server-side attack path. RTSP clients remain vulnerable when connecting to untrusted servers. Consider restricting connections to trusted RTSP servers where possible until a fix is available.
Description
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in GStreamer's RTSP support library when parsing Digest authentication headers. This flaw can be triggered by specially crafted whitespace around parameters, causing a length calculation underflow and crashing the process. On RTSP servers with authentication enabled, a remote unauthenticated attacker can cause a denial of service by sending a malformed request. RTSP clients are also vulnerable when connecting to malicious servers. There is no confirmed impact on confidentiality or integrity.
