Description

ImageMagick versions before 6.9.13-57 and 7.x before 7.1.2-32 contain an information disclosure vulnerability in the JPEG decoder. This flaw allows an attacker to supply a crafted JPEG file that causes the decoder to read and disclose uninitialized memory contents. The vulnerability has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.3.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109269 is an information disclosure vulnerability in ImageMagick's JPEG decoder affecting versions prior to 6.9.13-57 and 7.x prior to 7.1.2-32. The decoder performs a read operation that exposes uninitialized memory when processing specially crafted JPEG input. This can lead to disclosure of potentially sensitive memory contents to an attacker who supplies malicious JPEG files for processing.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose uninitialized memory contents by processing crafted JPEG files. This could lead to leakage of sensitive information from the affected system's memory. There is no indication of integrity or availability impact. No known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in ImageMagick versions 6.9.13-57 and 7.1.2-32 and later. Users should upgrade to these or newer versions to remediate the vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided or required.
