Improper Input Validation vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ AMQP, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache ActiveMQ All. (CVE-2026-59878)
Description
CVE-2026-59878 is an improper input validation vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ AMQP and Apache ActiveMQ. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted frame size value to an exposed AMQP NIO connector, causing NIO threads to die. Rapid exploitation can exhaust the NIO thread pool, resulting in denial-of-service (DoS) conditions. This affects versions before 5.19.9 and from 6.0.0 before 6.2.8. Fixed versions include 5.19.9, 6.2.8, and 6.3.0.

Technical Analysis
This vulnerability in Apache ActiveMQ AMQP and Apache ActiveMQ allows a remote unauthenticated peer with network access to an exposed AMQP NIO connector to trigger denial-of-service by sending a frame size value that causes NIO threads to terminate. If exploited repeatedly, this can deplete the NIO thread pool, denying service to other connections. The issue affects Apache ActiveMQ AMQP and Apache ActiveMQ versions prior to 5.19.9 and from 6.0.0 up to but not including 6.2.8. The vendor has released fixed versions 5.19.9, 6.2.8, and 6.3.0 that address this vulnerability.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause denial-of-service by exhausting the NIO thread pool of the AMQP connector, disrupting service availability. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported.
Mitigation Recommendations
Users should upgrade to Apache ActiveMQ versions 5.19.9, 6.2.8, or 6.3.0 where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations or workarounds are specified.
