Description

Apache Syncope contains a critical SQL Injection vulnerability (CVE-2026-77051) that allows an administrator with sufficient privileges to execute arbitrary SQL commands via unsanitized input parameters. This affects versions from 3.0.0-M0 through 3.0.16, 4.0.0-M0 through 4.0.7, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.2. Upgrading to versions 4.0.8 or 4.1.3 mitigates this issue.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-77051 is an SQL Injection vulnerability in Apache Syncope that allows an administrator with adequate entitlements to execute arbitrary SQL commands via stacked queries. This is achieved by exploiting unsanitized 'entityKey' and 'opEvent' parameters. The vulnerability affects Apache Syncope versions from 3.0.0-M0 through 3.0.16, 4.0.0-M0 through 4.0.7, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.2. The issue is resolved in versions 4.0.8 and 4.1.3.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to full compromise of the backend database, including unauthorized data disclosure, data manipulation, and potential denial of service. The CVSS 3.1 score of 9.8 reflects critical impact with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required beyond administrator entitlements, and complete confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade Apache Syncope to versions 4.0.8 or 4.1.3, which contain official fixes for this vulnerability. No other mitigations are specified. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory recommending these versions.
