Apply the updated intel-microcode packages provided by Ubuntu for your specific release as listed in the advisory USN-7535-1. After installation, reboot the system to ensure the microcode updates are applied. These updates fix the vulnerabilities described. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Multiple vulnerabilities affecting Intel processors were discovered that involve improper handling of data in shared microarchitectural structures, prediction calculations, branch prediction unit initialization, and core management mechanisms. These issues could allow an authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information or cause a denial of service. The vulnerabilities are addressed by updated Intel microcode packages available for various Ubuntu releases. A system reboot is required after applying updates to activate the fixes.
