AI-suggested

A fix is available in joserfc version 5.2.2 for the related product moto as indicated by established facts. Users should upgrade to the fixed release 5.2.2 or later. Until patched, applications should implement additional payload size checks for RFC7797 b64=false tokens during deserialization to prevent oversized payload acceptance.

Description

The joserfc library version 1.6.5 and earlier allow oversized RFC7797 b64=false JWS payloads to bypass the configured maximum payload size limit during deserialization. While normal JWS payloads are rejected if they exceed the max_payload_length, the unencoded payloads in RFC7797 JWS tokens are not checked, allowing larger payloads to be accepted. This can lead to moderate availability or resource exhaustion risks in applications relying on joserfc for payload size enforcement.
