Until a fix is available, users should be cautious about processing untrusted input streams that may be chunked or fragmented in a way that could exploit this behavior.

Description

Cpanel::JSON::XS versions from 4.42 before 4.80 for Perl have a vulnerability in their incremental JSON parser (incr_parse) where input chunking can alter the decoded value of top-level numbers. This occurs because the incremental parser decodes whatever bytes have arrived without a closing delimiter, allowing a peer controlling read boundaries to influence how many messages are decoded and their values.
