AI-suggested

Users should upgrade to the fixed versions of CPython: 3.8.20, 3.9.20, 3.10.15, 3.11.10, or 3.12.4. These versions contain updated ipaddress module data aligned with the latest IANA registries, correcting the classification behavior. No other mitigation is indicated.

Description

The ipaddress module in libpython incorrectly classified certain IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as private or globally reachable, deviating from the latest IANA Special-Purpose Address Registries. This affected the is_private and is_global properties of several ipaddress classes. The issue is fixed in CPython versions 3.8.20, 3.9.20, 3.10.15, 3.11.10, and 3.12.4.
