AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied by updating to linux-azure-6.17 kernel versions 6.17.0-1010.10~24.04.1 or 6.17.0-1010.10 as provided by the Ubuntu security notice USN-8094-4. After updating, a system reboot is required. Due to an ABI change, third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. Follow the vendor's update instructions carefully to ensure full remediation.
Description
Multiple vulnerabilities were discovered in the Linux kernel for Azure cloud systems, including issues in the AppArmor Linux Security Module that allow local unprivileged attackers to manipulate AppArmor profiles, potentially causing denial of service, information exposure, privilege escalation, or container escape. Additionally, some AMD Zen 5 processors with RDSEED instruction mishandle entropy, risking confidentiality and integrity. Numerous other kernel subsystems and drivers were also affected by various security flaws. These issues have been addressed in updated linux-azure-6.17 kernel packages.
