Published: 06/29/2026 (06/29/2026, 16:53:33 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: @appsource/utils

Description

The npm package @appsource/utils contains malicious code that compromises any computer on which it is installed or running. The compromise is severe enough that all secrets and keys stored on the affected system should be rotated immediately from a different, trusted machine. Removing the package alone does not guarantee removal of all malicious components, as the attacker may have established persistent control over the system.

Technical Analysis

The @appsource/utils npm package is identified as malicious software that, once installed, fully compromises the host computer. The advisory warns that the system should be considered fully compromised, requiring immediate secret and key rotation from a separate device. Due to potential persistent backdoors or additional malware installed alongside the package, simply uninstalling it does not ensure complete remediation.

Potential Impact

Complete compromise of the affected system, including potential unauthorized access to all stored secrets and keys. This may lead to further unauthorized actions, data theft, or lateral movement within the environment. The integrity and confidentiality of the affected system and its data cannot be trusted after installation of this package.

Mitigation Recommendations

Remove the @appsource/utils package immediately. Rotate all secrets and keys stored on the compromised system from a different, secure computer. Because the system may be fully compromised, consider rebuilding or restoring the system from a known good backup to ensure removal of all malicious components.
