Technical Analysis

The ts-lint-builders-v2.1 package distributed via npm includes malicious code that, once installed or executed, compromises the entire system. The compromise is severe enough that all stored secrets and keys on the machine should be considered exposed and must be rotated from a separate, secure device. Simply uninstalling the package is insufficient to ensure system integrity due to potential persistence mechanisms or additional malware installed by the attacker.

Potential Impact

Complete system compromise on any computer with the package installed or running. Exposure of all stored secrets and keys on the affected system. Potential for persistent malicious control beyond the presence of the package itself.

Mitigation Recommendations

Remove the ts-lint-builders-v2.1 package immediately. Rotate all secrets and keys stored on the compromised system from a different, secure computer. Consider the affected system fully compromised and perform a thorough investigation and remediation, including potential system rebuilds. No official patch or fix is available; remediation relies on removal and secret rotation.
