Description

The npm package @modhamanish/rn-mm-template version 1.1.3 contains malicious code. Technical Analysis

The package @modhamanish/rn-mm-template version 1.1.3 is identified as containing malicious code. Installation or execution of this package can lead to a full system compromise, as it may grant attackers complete control over the affected computer. Due to the nature of the compromise, simply uninstalling the package does not guarantee removal of all malicious artifacts or backdoors introduced. Immediate secret and key rotation from a different, uncompromised system is advised to mitigate ongoing risk.

Potential Impact

Systems with the malicious package installed are fully compromised, risking exposure and unauthorized access to all stored secrets and keys. Attackers may have persistent control beyond the presence of the package itself, leading to potential data theft, system manipulation, or further malware deployment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Remove the @modhamanish/rn-mm-template package version 1.1.3 from all affected systems. Rotate all secrets and keys stored on compromised systems immediately using a separate, secure computer. Because full system compromise is possible, consider rebuilding or thoroughly cleaning affected systems to ensure removal of all malicious components.
