0
Critical
Published: 07/06/2026 (07/06/2026, 18:02:36 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: react-next-dom

Description

The react-next-dom npm package versions 17.2.7, 1.1.7, and 17.2.8 contain malicious code. Installation or execution of these versions can lead to a full compromise of the affected computer. Secrets and keys stored on the compromised system should be rotated immediately from a secure, unaffected device. Removing the package alone may not eliminate all malicious components due to potential full system compromise.

Technical Analysis

The react-next-dom package in specific npm versions (17.2.7, 1.1.7, and 17.2.8) has been identified as containing malicious code. Any system with these versions installed or running is considered fully compromised, implying that attackers may have gained complete control over the system. The advisory recommends immediate rotation of all secrets and keys from a different, secure machine. Due to the nature of the compromise, simply uninstalling the package does not guarantee removal of all malicious artifacts or backdoors introduced by the package.

Potential Impact

Full system compromise on any computer with the affected react-next-dom package versions installed or running. Attackers may have access to all secrets and keys stored on the system. The integrity and confidentiality of the affected system are severely impacted.

Mitigation Recommendations

Remove the malicious react-next-dom package versions from the system. Immediately rotate all secrets and keys from a secure, uncompromised device. Because the system may be fully compromised, consider rebuilding or thoroughly cleaning the affected machine to ensure removal of all malicious components. No official patch or fix is available; remediation relies on removal and secret rotation.
