Technical Analysis

The 'es-lint-entry' npm package version 1.0.0 is identified as containing malicious code that compromises the host system completely. Installation or execution of this package can lead to full system compromise, potentially exposing all stored secrets and keys. Due to the severity of the compromise, simply uninstalling the package does not guarantee removal of all malicious artifacts or backdoors introduced. This package is flagged as a malicious package in the npm ecosystem with no CVSS score assigned.

Potential Impact

Any system with 'es-lint-entry' version 1.0.0 installed or running should be considered fully compromised. Attackers may have gained full control over the system, risking exposure and theft of all stored secrets and keys. The compromise may persist beyond removal of the package, indicating potential persistence mechanisms or additional malware installed.

Mitigation Recommendations

Remove the 'es-lint-entry' package version 1.0.0 immediately from affected systems. Rotate all secrets and keys stored on the compromised system using a separate, secure computer. Because full control may have been given to an attacker, further forensic analysis and system restoration from a known good backup are recommended. Patch status is not applicable as this is a malicious package rather than a vulnerability with an official fix.
