Description

The npm package @ai-plus/de-agent-sdk contains malicious code that can fully compromise any computer on which it is installed or running. The compromise potentially allows an attacker to gain full control over the affected system. Immediate removal of the package is recommended, but removal alone may not eliminate all malicious software introduced. All secrets and keys stored on the compromised machine should be rotated from a separate, secure device.

Technical Analysis

The @ai-plus/de-agent-sdk package distributed via npm has been identified as containing malicious code that compromises the host system completely. Installation or execution of this package results in a full system compromise, potentially allowing attackers to access all secrets and keys stored on the machine. Due to the nature of the compromise, simply uninstalling the package does not guarantee removal of all malicious artifacts or backdoors. This threat is classified as a malicious package rather than a traditional vulnerability, with no CVSS score assigned.

Potential Impact

Full system compromise on any computer with the package installed or running. Attackers may gain complete control over the system, including access to all stored secrets and keys. The integrity and confidentiality of the affected system are severely impacted. Removal of the package alone may not restore system security.

Mitigation Recommendations

Remove the @ai-plus/de-agent-sdk package immediately from all affected systems. Rotate all secrets, keys, and credentials that were stored on the compromised machines, performing this rotation from a separate, secure device. Because full system compromise is possible, consider rebuilding affected systems from a known good state to ensure complete removal of malicious software.
