Technical Analysis

The 'blastradar' package in the npm ecosystem has been identified as containing malicious code that fully compromises any computer running or having installed it. The compromise includes potential unauthorized access and control over the system, putting all stored secrets and keys at risk. Due to the nature of the compromise, simply uninstalling the package may not remove all malicious artifacts. This threat is cataloged under MAL-2026-14120 and GHSA-pp9x-4g56-7322. No CVSS score or patch information is available.

Potential Impact

Full system compromise on any computer with the 'blastradar' package installed or running. All secrets and keys stored on the compromised machine are at risk and should be considered exposed. Removal of the package does not guarantee complete remediation due to potential persistence of malicious software.

Defensive Guidance

Remove the 'blastradar' package immediately from all affected systems. Rotate all secrets and keys from a separate, uncompromised computer to prevent unauthorized access. Because full system compromise is possible, consider rebuilding affected systems to ensure complete removal of malicious software.
