Technical Analysis

The 'bnotify-web-sdk' package in the npm ecosystem contains malicious code or a dependency with malicious code, leading to full compromise of any computer running or having installed it. The compromise can result in unauthorized control over the system and potential exposure of sensitive information such as secrets and keys. Due to the severity of the compromise, simple removal of the package does not guarantee remediation of all malicious artifacts.

Potential Impact

Systems with 'bnotify-web-sdk' installed are considered fully compromised, risking exposure and theft of secrets and keys. The malicious code may allow attackers to maintain persistent access and control over the affected computer, leading to severe security breaches.

Defensive Guidance

Remove the 'bnotify-web-sdk' package immediately. Rotate all secrets and keys stored on the compromised system from a different, secure computer. Because the system may be fully compromised, consider rebuilding or thoroughly cleaning the affected machine to ensure complete removal of malicious software.
