Description
The npm package erick-bakwan27-ruro contains malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign, which flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. This malware uses autopublish scripts to automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names. The payload modifies package.json files to remove private flags, alters version numbers, and generates random Indonesian-themed package names. It continuously republishes variants to pollute the npm registry and inflate developer reputation scores for token rewards.
