Description
The npm package server-hemera-mongo versions 0.0.12 and 0.0.16 were compromised as part of a large-scale npm supply-chain worm campaign in August 2026. The malicious versions include a preinstall hook that executes an obfuscated payload using a downloaded Bun runtime. This payload steals a wide range of credentials and secrets from the infected environment and propagates by republishing other packages accessible via stolen tokens. Any environment that installed these versions with install scripts enabled should be treated as fully compromised, requiring immediate credential rotation and package removal.
