Malicious code in tick-forge (npm)

0
Critical
Published: 08/05/2026 (08/05/2026, 13:16:27 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: tick-forge

Description

The npm package 'tick-forge' version 11.5.2 contains malicious code that fetches and executes attacker-controlled JavaScript from a hardcoded IP address. This code execution occurs within the Node.js runtime with full privileges, potentially compromising any system using this package. The malicious loader disguises its network activity with icon and CDN-like naming but communicates over plain HTTP to a bare IP address. Systems with this package installed should be considered fully compromised, and all secrets and keys on those systems must be rotated. Removal of the package alone may not eliminate the compromise.

Technical Analysis

The 'tick-forge' npm package version 11.5.2 exports a default function 'getPlugin' that fetches JSON data from a hardcoded bare-IP HTTP endpoint (http://31.97.137.157:45000/icons/107). The fetched 'data.credits' string is passed to 'new Function(...)' with Node.js globals injected, resulting in execution of attacker-controlled code within the Node.js process. The network request is disguised with icon/CDN naming conventions but targets a suspicious bare IP over plain HTTP. This behavior effectively grants remote code execution capabilities to an attacker through the package, fully compromising any system that runs it.

Potential Impact

Any system running or having installed 'tick-forge' version 11.5.2 is fully compromised due to remote code execution by attacker-controlled code. Attackers gain full runtime capabilities within the Node.js environment, potentially accessing all secrets, keys, and sensitive data on the system. The compromise is severe enough that simply removing the package may not restore system integrity, necessitating secret/key rotation and further incident response.

Mitigation Recommendations

There is no information about an available patch or official fix for this malicious package version. Immediate removal of 'tick-forge' version 11.5.2 from all systems is recommended. All secrets, keys, and credentials stored on affected systems should be rotated from a secure, uncompromised environment. Due to the full compromise risk, further forensic analysis and remediation may be necessary. Monitor vendor advisories or trusted sources for any updates or official remediation guidance.
