Any code the remote host returns executes in the caller's Node.js process with full library privileges. A separate function setDefaultModule constructs a plausible cdnjs/font-awesome URL from an icon-domain map but is never called from any export, serving as decoy alongside the actual bare-IP eval sink. The package is advertised in its README as a zero-dependency TypeScript utility toolkit, but package.json declares dependencies (@primno/dpapi for Windows DPAPI unwrap, better-sqlite3, node-machine-id, socket.io-client, request) that are inconsistent with utility helpers and are pre-staged for the fetched payload to require — the building blocks of a credential/browser-cookie stealer. ## Source: ghsa-malware (e4d47d251f81b0696dd32c48deec7ce497f8f72b3681dd774ea4446e11d0336e) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.

Technical Analysis

The utility-kit-ts package (version 1.3.2) exports a function getPlugin that performs a fetch request to a hardcoded bare-IP URL (https://31.97.137.157:45000/icons/109). It extracts the data.credits field from the response and passes it to the Function constructor, which compiles and executes the code with Node.js primitives such as require, module, process, and Buffer bound in. This allows any code returned by the remote host to execute with full privileges in the Node.js process. Additionally, the package includes a decoy function setDefaultModule that constructs a plausible cdnjs/font-awesome URL but is never called. The package.json declares dependencies inconsistent with utility helpers, including modules that support credential and cookie stealing, indicating the package is malicious.

Potential Impact

Remote code execution in the Node.js environment with full library privileges enables an attacker to execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to credential theft, browser cookie theft, and full compromise of the host environment running the package.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is currently documented. Users should immediately discontinue use of utility-kit-ts version 1.3.2 and remove it from their projects. Avoid installing or running this package. Monitor for updates from the package maintainer or npm advisory for any official fixes or removals. Since this is a malicious package, consider scanning your environment for any signs of compromise if this package was used.
