Description
The npm package vida-kue41-ruro contains malicious code as part of a large-scale spam campaign linked to the tea.xyz token reward system. This campaign flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious payload includes scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. These scripts modify package metadata to remove privacy flags and alter version numbers, enabling continuous republishing of variants. The intent is to inflate developer reputation scores within the tea protocol token rewards system and pollute the npm registry.
