Description
The npm package wawan-naget2-sukiwir contains malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign, which flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. These packages use autopublish scripts to automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The malicious payload modifies package.json files to remove private flags, change version numbers, and continuously republish variants, polluting the npm registry and inflating developer reputation scores for token rewards.
