Description
The npm package widget-forge version 9999.0.0 is a malicious dependency-confusion beacon. It contains a preinstall script that runs automatically on npm install, which collects system and environment information and sends it to a hardcoded external IP address. The package itself has no functional payload and uses a high version number to outbid internal packages. The only effect of installing this package is information reconnaissance via an HTTP GET request to a remote server.
