AI-suggested
A security update is available and should be applied to affected systems. Red Hat has released glibc version 2.34-284.el9_8.4 which addresses these vulnerabilities. Users should follow the update instructions provided in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate the issues. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
A moderate severity security update for glibc addresses multiple vulnerabilities including a denial of service via a long search domain in the DNS stub resolver (CVE-2026-8674), stack overflow in nscd causing degraded DNS resolution, privilege escalation and arbitrary code execution via a TOCTOU race condition in the dynamic loader, and a local denial of service and information disclosure via a stack-based buffer overflow. These vulnerabilities affect the core C libraries essential for Linux system functionality. The update fixes these issues in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and related distributions.
