AI-suggested
A patch is available in pyasn1 version 25.12.0_3. Users should upgrade to this fixed version to remediate the vulnerability. The vendor advisory from Red Hat confirms the availability of this update. Until patched, adding limits on allowed bytes in the decoder may help mitigate the issue.
Description
A denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability exists in pyasn1 version 0.6.1 due to memory exhaustion caused by malformed RELATIVE-OID inputs with excessive continuation octets during decoding. This can cause affected applications to consume excessive memory, potentially hanging systems or stopping services. The issue affects applications that decode ASN.1 data such as LDAP servers, TLS/SSL endpoints, and OCSP responders. A fix is available in pyasn1 version 25.12.0_3.
