Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-62194 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in OpenClaw's plugin install commands affecting versions prior to 2026.6.9. The issue arises from improper authorization controls that allow lower-trust users to execute or persist actions beyond their privileges. Exploitation depends on misconfigured input paths or enabled features that are accessible to attackers. This vulnerability is categorized under CWE-732 (Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource). No known exploits in the wild have been reported, and no patch or remediation information is currently provided.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows attackers with limited privileges to escalate their permissions and execute or maintain unauthorized actions within the OpenClaw environment. This can lead to unauthorized control over system components or data beyond the attacker's original access level.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to plugin installation features and review configurations to ensure input paths and features are not misconfigured or exposed to lower-trust users.
