Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-62195 describes an authorization bypass vulnerability in OpenClaw's MCP loopback feature affecting versions before 2026.6.6. The issue allows attackers with lower privileges to circumvent authorization controls and execute tools reserved for owners. This occurs via manipulation of configured input paths, enabling unauthorized execution or persistence of privileged actions. The vulnerability is categorized under CWE-732 (Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource). No patch or remediation information is currently available.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability permits unauthorized users with limited privileges to execute owner-only tools, potentially leading to unauthorized actions or persistence mechanisms beyond their intended permissions. This could compromise system integrity or security controls reliant on proper authorization enforcement.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the MCP loopback feature and monitor for unusual usage patterns related to owner-only tools execution.
