AI-suggested

A fixed version of OpenSSH (10.8r3) is available from Red Hat and should be applied to affected systems. Additionally, Red Hat recommends disabling LoginGraceTime as a mitigation measure, as described in the related CVE-2024-6387 advisory. Users should follow the official Red Hat advisory for detailed remediation steps.

Description

A race condition vulnerability in OpenSSH server (sshd) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 allows a remote attacker to trigger asynchronous signal handling that calls non-async-signal-safe functions. This can lead to a denial of service and potentially remote code execution as an unprivileged user. The flaw affects OpenSSH versions shipped with RHEL 9 and certain OpenShift Container Platform versions. Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Moderate severity and has released a fixed version 10.8r3. Mitigation includes disabling LoginGraceTime as detailed in related advisories.
