What to do
AI-suggested
The vulnerabilities have been fixed in updated OpenSSL packages released by Ubuntu. Users should apply the security updates corresponding to their Ubuntu release (e.g., OpenSSL 3.3.1-2ubuntu2.1 for 24.10, 3.0.13-0ubuntu3.5 for 24.04 LTS, 3.0.2-0ubuntu1.19 for 22.04 LTS, and 1.1.1f-1ubuntu2.24 for 20.04 LTS) and reboot their systems to complete the installation. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying these official patches.
Description
OpenSSL contains a timing side-channel vulnerability in ECDSA signature computations that could allow a remote attacker to recover private data. Additionally, improper handling of memory operations in low-level GF(2^m) elliptic curve APIs with untrusted polynomial values can lead to crashes or potential arbitrary code execution. These issues have been addressed in updated OpenSSL packages provided by Ubuntu.
